Governor Signs Employee Classification Bill

West Virginia Gov. Jim Justice signed a bill that identifies criteria that must be considered when deciding whether a worker is an employee or a contractor. Justice on Friday signed Senate Bill 272, by Senate President Craig Blair, R-Berkeley, which requires that a person classified as a contractor be working under a signed contract that acknowledges the worker is not an employee and not covered by work comp or unemployment.
