Wisconsin Gov. Tony Evers on Wednesday signed into law an extensive coronavirus response act that creates a presumption for first responders who are sickened by the disease.
Assembly Bill 1038 notes that the presumption remains in effect until 30 days after the governor's public health emergency declaration is lifted. The disease must be diagnosed by a physician or a positive COVID-19 test, and the presumption may be rebutted by evidence that the illness was caused by exposure outside of work.
