A New Jersey Senate Committee on Thursday approved a bill that would significantly improve benefits for the loss of a hand or foot, and would require a study to examine the effectiveness and efficiency of the state’s workers’ compensation system.
Senate Bill 782 is similar to a bill that the previous governor, Republican Chris Christie, vetoed in 2011. With Democratic Gov. Phil Murphy now at the helm, lawmakers this year appear to be marching ahead with worker-friendly changes.
