The Alaska Supreme Court ruled that an employer who, in bad faith, denied a paraplegic worker's requests for a new medical bed and treatment for his diabetes, sleep apnea and hypertension, should be subject to penalties for its behavior. Following the lead of Louisiana and Pennsylvania, the Alaska Supreme Court on Friday said that penalties can be imposed against an employer who lacked a good-faith basis to controvert a prescribed medical treatment for its employee, even if no bill had been presented to it for payment.
