The federal coronavirus rescue law that took effect Wednesday sets in motion a number of new rules, issues and benefits that employers and workers should be aware of, workers' compensation lawyers around the country said Wednesday.
For starters, the Families First Coronavirus Response Act, passed by Congress last week, grants COVID-19-sickened workers two weeks of paid leave — with the federal government covering the costs — if the company is still operating and the worker is still employed. A hospital worker would be an obvious example of an eligible employee.
