Legislation, Court Ruling Aimed at Stopping Medical Bill Collection Against Workers

A federal court ruling in Florida and a bill in the New Jersey Legislature could make it more difficult for collection agencies to go after injured workers for unpaid medical bills. The Miami Herald reported that U.S. District Judge Rodolfo Ruiz held that debt collectors should not rely on the presumption that all debts referred by a medical facility are valid and still outstanding.
