Maryland Gov. Wes Moore has until the end of May to decide whether to enact legislation that would subject as much as a quarter of an injured worker’s indemnity benefits to being garnished for unpaid child support.
The Senate on Friday voted 42-0 to pass HB 800, by Del. N. Scott Phillips, D-Baltimore, which would specify that 25% of the net recovery of workers’ compensation indemnity benefits is subject to a judgment for unpaid child support.
