Maine lawmakers have approved an initiative by Gov. John E. Baldacci to stagger the length of the terms served by members of the state Workers' Compensation Board (WCB) in the second phase of a reorganization that began in 2004.On April 16, Baldacci signed LD 2318, which calls for six of the seven board members to resign, effective March 1, 2009. The resolve, which Balducci signed into law on April 16, require him to nominate new members by next February.The seventh member, WCB Chairman and Executive Director Paul Dionne, serves at the pleasure of the governor and casts tie-breaking votes ...
