WCAB Imposes Additional $25,000 in Sanctions on Lawyer, Rep Who Abused Recon Process

The Workers’ Compensation Appeals Board on Wednesday issued two en banc decisions imposing $25,000 in sanctions on a Southern California attorney and a hearing rep who filed reconsideration petitions to delay cases after a judge denied a request for a continuance. The new sanctions are in addition to the combined $40,000 in sanctions that the WCAB in May assessed against attorney Susan Garrett and hearing representative Lance Garrett for the same conduct involving improper reconsideration requests.
