A U.S. Supreme Court decision handed down last week will likely open the door for more state regulations of pharmacy benefits managers and could mean another blow to PBMs' business model, industry experts said.
“My opinion is that, absolutely, this is the end of the spread pricing business model,” said Susan Hayes, a pharmacy costs consultant whose analysis was included as an expert report in the lawsuit, brought by Arkansas Attorney General Leslie Rutledge, in 2016.
