U.S. Sen. Jeanne Shaheen last week announced the introduction of a bill that would make an emergency $600 million appropriation to federal programs that combat opioid abuse.
The bill would provide supplemental funding to programs at the Department of Justice and the Department of Health and Human Services for prevention, intervention, treatment and recovery, according to a news release from the senator’s office.
