The Texas workers' compensation system could shave off $200,000 a year in worker rehabilitation costs by dropping a 22-year-old provider accreditation preference and pay all rehab services the same amount.
So says the Texas Division of Workers' Compensation, which has formally proposed new rules for work-conditioning and work-hardening services, after a 2017 study showed no difference in outcomes for accredited versus non-accredited providers.
