Former LAUSD School Teacher to Serve 18 Days for Comp Fraud

A former Los Angeles Unified School District teacher will serve 18 days in jail after pleading guilty to one count of workers' compensation insurance fraud.Carl Leon, a former teacher at Edison Middle School, also was ordered to pay $69,897 in restitution, serve five years probation and work 45 days on a California Department of Transportation road crew.Leon was simultaneously receiving temporary total disability benefits and State Teacher Retirement System benefits while he owned and operated a real estate business, LAUSD said in a press release.
