Two of the politically reddest states in America are considering worker-friendly legislation: A bill in Indiana would double penalties on employers for late benefit payments, and a measure in Kansas would increase the death and burial expense benefit.
Indiana Senate Bill 290 passed the Senate a week ago and now lies in the House. It would allow the Workers' Compensation Board to fine employers who don't pay compensation within 30 days of the board's approval of a settlement agreement.
SB 290 also would give permanently totally disabled employees...
