The U.S. 5th Circuit Court of Appeals on Monday upheld a Houston-area doctor’s five year sentence for his role in running a pill mill that dispensed approximately 1.6 million dosage units of oxycodone in a two-year-period.
The court said there was substantial evidence that Dr. Richard Evans was running an illegitimate medical practice, and that none of the trial judge’s evidentiary rulings had affected his ability to get a fair trial.
