Lawmakers Hope to 'Set the Standard' With Health Worker Presumptions

With some lawmakers wearing face masks, the Minnesota Legislature on Tuesday approved a bill creating a rebuttable presumption of compensability for first responders, medical workers and even some child care workers stricken with COVID-19, the disease caused by the new coronavirus. The House of Representatives passed HF 4537 Tuesday morning by a vote of 130-4, and the Senate followed up in the afternoon with a 67-0 vote. The governor signed it the same day.
