With the Trump administration rolling back enforcement of labor laws, including those protecting workers from misclassification, states must step up with aggressive, coordinated and proactive tactics, says a new report by researchers at Harvard University Law School.
That means instead of relying on complaints from workers, state agencies should target problem industries on a regular basis and make sweeps to investigate lapsed workers' compensation policies and underreported payrolls, said the report by Mark Erlich and Terri Gerstein.
