If stakeholders were hoping the National Council on Compensation Insurance was going to shed new light on the projected cost of COVID-19 claims in Florida, they may be disappointed.
The NCCI has recommended a 5.7% average decrease in loss costs for the voluntary market in Florida, starting Jan. 1, according to a filing made late last week. The state's insurance commissioner announced the filing Tuesday.
But the decrease — the fourth in as many years — is based on trends from 2017 and 2018 and does not consider the cost of the more than 12,000 virus claims that have been filed...
