The California Senate agreed with amendments to a bill that would require police and firefighters to have at least six months of service before post-traumatic stress disorder would be presumed compensable for claims not arising from sudden or extraordinary work conditions.
The Senate on Wednesday voted 39-0 to approve amendments made to SB 542 while the measure was in the Assembly. The Assembly voted 77-0 to pass the bill one day earlier.
SB 542, by Sen. Henry Stern, D-Los Angeles, would create the presumption that PTSD is compensable.
