A U.S. senator introduced legislation that would create a presumption that wildland firefighters contracted COVID-19 in the line of work.
Sen. Joe Manchin, D-West Virginia, introduced the “COVID-19 as a Presumptive Disease in Wildland Firefighters Act” on Monday.
“We have heard that firefighters are worried about whether they will be adequately covered should they fall ill,” Manchin said in a statement. “Our bill ensures that firefighters can have one less thing to worry about as they go about doing their jobs.”
