Workers’ compensation stakeholders from multiple sectors testified Monday that proposed changes to the Division of Workers’ Compensation’s medical-legal fee schedule could create more problems than the department is already trying to fix.
The updated fee schedule would give qualified medical evaluators their first raise since 2006, but the proposal’s path to doing so could initiate more complexity and more friction while continuing to drive physicians out of California’s workers’ comp system, they said.
