A Southern California biomedical company is calling for genetic testing of injured workers with chronic pain to determine which treatment might be the safest and most effective for them.
In an article in the International Journal of Biomedical Science, scientists with Proove Biosciences Inc. have proposed adding genetic testing to evidence-based guidelines for the treatment of non-cancer chronic pain.
Genetics have a significant effect on a patient’s pain perception, according to the authors, and the chance of addiction is also related to an individual’s genetic profile.
