A Manhattan physician has been charged in federal court with the illegal distribution of millions of oxycodone pills.
Dr. Emmanuel Lambrakis is charged with one count of conspiring to distribute and possess with intent to distribute oxycodone, which carries a maximum 20-year prison sentence.
He operated two clinics in Queens and since January 2011 wrote about 17,000 oxycodone prescriptions — nearly 2.4 million tablets — with a street value of at least $48 million, prosecutors said.
