The Texas Division of Workers' Compensation could give final approval to new telemedicine rules as soon as next week, ushering in a brave new world of video doctor visits anywhere in the state — even from the convenience of a smartphone.
A second round of public comments about the rules, filed this month, show strong support for telemedicine in a state that has vast rural areas and few doctors in them. But stakeholders also urged regulators to clarify some things, track the practice carefully, and perhaps expand it to physical and occupational therapy.
