Illinois is taking its next baby step on a multi-year journey away from a paper-based claims and filing system, toward a new all-digital future.
The Illinois Workers’ Compensation Commission will in July begin to send notices to law firms about case updates by email, though it will also, at first, send overlapping hard-copy notices through the mail.
“This is just one small step in a multi-year timeline,” said Ben Noble, IWCC spokesman, of Illinois’ “Digital Transformation Project,” which rolled out an interactive website last year.
