OSHA Cites U.S. Steel for Willful Violation after Explosion Kills 2 Workers

An explosion that killed two men and injured another last September led to the federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration citing U.S. Steel Corp. for one willful safety violation and seven serious violations, OSHA announced in a release. Leo Bridges and Edward Bryant were opening and closing a malfunctioning valve on a furnace at the Fairfield Works facility in Fairfield, Alabama, when the furnace erupted, according to OSHA. Bridges and Bryant later died as a result of their injuries from the explosion, and a third coworker was rushed to a burn trauma unit in critical condition. OS...
