The Idaho Department of Insurance said a woman in Boise who admitted to filing workers’ compensation claims for self-inflicted injuries because she wanted time off work and free health care was sentenced to 30 days in jail.
Alene Bako pleaded guilty to two counts of felony insurance fraud in August and was sentenced on Oct. 27. In addition to the jail sentence, she was also ordered to pay a $1,000 fine for each count. Bako must also pay the Insurance Department $1,460 and restitution totaling $1,174.
The department said it received multiple complaints about Bako from 2018 through 2020....
