A longtime state government insider has been named the first woman to lead the Texas Division of Workers' Compensation.
Gov. Greg Abbott this week named Cassie Brown, a deputy commissioner for regulatory policy at the state Department of Insurance, to head the workers' compensation agency. She will take over for Ryan Brannan, who left state government May 1 to launch a lobbying firm.
