AmTrust Financial Services Inc. on Thursday announced the death of the company's founder and chairman, Michael Karfunkel.
Karfunkel and his brother, George, who is a company director, founded AmTrust in 1998. Michael Karfunkel served as AmTrust's chairman throughout the company’s history.
Within a few years of the company's founding, the Karfunkels appointed Michael Karfunkel's son-in-law, Barry Zyskind, to the position of president and chief executive officer.
AmTrust didn’t provide further details of Karfunkel’s death.
