DWC Gets Formal on UR Physician Rules

The Texas Division of Workers' Compensation, having held an informal comment period, is now moving on to a formal review process on rules regarding the credentials of doctors who perform utilization reviews. The division will accept written comments through Dec. 28 on proposed changes to the administrative code, in keeping with Senate Bill 1742. The bill was signed into law a year ago and requires that physicians who perform utilization reviews, independent reviews and peer reviews be in the same or similar specialty as the doctor under review.
