L&I Approaches Acupuncture Cautiously Through Pilot Program

A Washington State Department of Labor and Industries pilot program of acupuncture for treatment of low back pain will likely lead to the department’s coverage of acupuncture for injured workers on a more permanent basis, an official said on Friday. Since treatment under the pilot program started in October, 147 claimants have received acupuncture for low back pain, and acupuncture treatment has been completed for 44 claimants, according to data provided by the department.
