The Illinois Appellate Court this week issued a stern rebuke to the Liberty Mutual Insurance Co. for its apparent failure to timely pay medical providers for treating injured workers.
But the court said the providers who are being strung along do not have any legal recourse against the allegedly recalcitrant carrier.
The Illinois Workers’ Compensation Act gives a carrier 30 days to pay medical bills for the treatment of an insured’s injured employees. Otherwise, interest begins to accrue at the rate of 1% per month.
