Oregon's State Accident Insurance Fund, SAIF, has lost a 3 1/2-year legal battle and must open records that it had claimed contained protected trade secrets. The state's carrier of last resort, SAIF was sued in 2000 by a group called Oregonians for Sound Economic Policy on a claim that SAIF had denied its request for records which included board minutes, contracts, and information on dividends and premiums.SAIF says the group is really a front for its biggest competitor in the work comp market, Liberty Mutual Northwest, and that the company is seeking proprietary information to help it compete...
