Two investigative reports published last year on the workers’ compensation system have received awards from journalism organizations.
An investigative report from national nonprofit ProPublica received an IRE Medal from the Investigative Reporters and Editors organization. It is the highest honor IRE bestows.
ProPublica’s project, called “Insult to Injury,” detailed what the nonprofit called states’ dismantling of the workers’ compensation system, driven by big business and insurance companies. It was a collaboration with National Public Radio.
