The National Council on Compensation Insurance filed with the West Virginia Office of the Insurance Commissioner a proposed workers’ compensation loss cost decrease of 9.1%, effective Jan. 1.
If approved, the premium reduction would save employers about $15 million, the governor’s office said in a statement.
The latest filing would be the 20th consecutive loss cost decrease.
The governor’s office said the premiums are down a cumulative $481 million since the workers’ compensation program was privatized in 2006.
