As states have gradually whittled down workers’ compensation benefits, the costs of caring for injured workers has been shifted to other programs, some have theorized.
But a new report from the National Council on Compensation Insurance disputes that viewpoint, at least as it pertains to Social Security Disability Insurance.
“The suggestion that state legislatures inappropriately shift costs from WC to SSDI by lowering WC benefit levels is inaccurate,” NCCI said in summarizing the new report.
