CDC Awards Opioid Abuse Prevention Grants

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has awarded funding to 16 states to battle what it calls an epidemic of prescription drug overdose. The CDC announced funding through the program, called Prescription Drug Overdose: Prevention for States, on Friday. States selected for funding through a competitive process are Arizona, California, Illinois, Kentucky, Nebraska, New Mexico, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Tennessee, Utah, Vermont and Wisconsin.
