The Michigan Workers' Compensation Agency is increasing maximum weekly benefits 2.7% in 2016, to $842 from the current maximum of $820, according to a notice posted on the agency's website.
Under Section 418.355(2) of the Workers' Disability Compensation Act, maximum benefits are based on 90% of the state average weekly wage. The state Bureau of Labor Market Information & Strategic Initiatives reported that Michigan's average weekly wage was $935 as of June 30.
