LAPD Officer Pleads Not Guilty to Comp Fraud

A Los Angeles police officer charged with workers’ compensation fraud pleaded not guilty on Wednesday.
Jason Gordon is charged with one felony count each of workers’ compensation insurance fraud and attempted perjury under oath, City News Service reported.
Gordon is due back in court on April 4, when a date for a preliminary hearing will be set.
Gordon, 48, a nine-year Los Angeles Police Department veteran, was arrested on Jan. 17 following an investigation by the LAPD workers’ compensation fraud unit.
Investigators say Gordon participated in workouts inconsistent with his claimed injury while he was on temporary totally disabled status.
“Thus, he received benefits to which he was not entitled,” LAPD said last month in a news release.
Gordon was booked and released after posting $40,000 bail.
The attempted perjury charge arises from allegations that Gordon lied under oath in a deposition, according to City News Service.
