A growing number of workers are enrolled in high-deductible health insurance policies, even though many may not be able to afford the deductible payment, according to a news report that could add to nervousness about cost-shifting to workers’ comp.
Last year, 44% of Americans were enrolled in a high-deductible plan, up from 25% in 2010, Bloomberg reported on Tuesday. But more than half of the 44% did not have health savings accounts, which would help cover high-deductible amounts.
