Liberty Mutual is shutting down its 60-year old Research Institute for Safety, a center that increased the workers’ comp industry’s understanding of such issues as the impact of early MRIs in cases of acute low-back pain.
Research conducted with the goal of publication in peer-reviewed journals will cease as of June 6 at the Hopkinton, Massachusetts, center, a Liberty Mutual spokesman said. The facility will continue to house Liberty Mutual’s industrial hygiene laboratory, driver training program and a training center for personal insurance claims.
