Liberty Mutual Holding Company Inc. on Wednesday reported net income of $393 million for the three months that ended March 31, a 42.4% increase compared to net income of $276 million during the same period in 2015.
The company’s net written premium for the first quarter was $8.77 billion, an increase of $46 million, or 0.5%, over the prior year quarter.
Combined ratio for the commercial insurance segment was 96.8% in the first quarter, up from 96.1% in the prior year quarter. For the company overall, combined ratio was down 0.8 points in the first quarter, falling to 96.3%.
