The Tennessee House of Representatives unanimously passed a bill that would direct the Bureau of Workers’ Compensation to administer a registry of construction service providers that are exempt from carrying comp coverage.
The House on Monday voted 91-0 to pass HB 386, by Rep. Lowell Russell, R-Vonore, which would shift administration of the Workers’ Compensation Exemption Registry to the BWC from the secretary of state at the start of 2022. Currently, the secretary of state approves exemptions and renewals, and the BWC enforces the exemptions.
