A single-payer health care program that covers occupational injuries could undo the grand bargain of workers' compensation and open the doors for lawsuits over workplace injuries, according to a new white paper published by the California Workers' Compensation Institute.
CWCI is following up on reports written in the mid-1990s exploring 24-hour coverage plans as California lawmakers prepare for more debate on a single-payer bill introduced last year, and after Congress tried and failed to repeal the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.
