The Florida League of Cities on Monday withdrew its opposition to legislation that would provide wage-replacement benefits to first responders suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder, even if the PTSD is not accompanied by a physical injury.
The league’s change in position follows amendments to House Bill 227 — and a lambasting by Florida Chief Financial Officer Jimmy Patronis.
Patronis, who also serves as the state fire marshal, said in a news release on Monday that the league’s attempt to derail the legislation was “disgraceful.”
