The Indiana state Senate gave final approval Tuesday to a bill that imposes penalties on employers who fail to timely pay workers’ compensation benefits.
The Senate voted 49-0 to concur with amendments adopted by the House of Representatives to Senate Bill 290, by Sen. Jon Ford, R-Terre Haute.
The bill requires employers to pay benefits within 30 days of an award being issued and imposes civil penalties — set at $50 for the first offense and $300 for the third — against employers that do not pay benefits when due. SB 290 also:
