ProAssurance Corp. reported net income of $10.3 million during the quarter ended Sept. 30, down 70.5% from $34.8 million in the third quarter of 2014.
Net earned premiums grew by 2.9% compared to the prior-year quarter, to $182.1 million from $177 million. The carriers' combined ratio improved to 88.9% in the third quarter, from 86.6% for the same period last year.
Chairman and Chief Executive Officer W. Stancil Starnes said the carrier saw "strong premium growth" in its workers' compensation and Lloyd's segments during the third quarter.
