The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics has reported a growth of 3,300 insurance jobs in May, a 19% decrease in job growth as compared to April.
Employment in the insurance carriers and related activities subsector grew by 0.13%, and now sits at 2,594,400 employed insurance workers with an unemployment rate of 2.6%, according to BLS data released last month and summarized by InsuranceJobs.com. The unemployment rate is up from 1.5% last year.
Over the last 12 months, employment in the subsector has increased by 2.5% or 62,500 jobs from 2,531,900 in May 2015.
