A proposed pilot project that would allow California employers to pay temporary disability benefits with debit cards would work better with fewer restrictions on fees and without a requirement that workers opt into the program in writing, according to finance industry lobbyists.
Despite the objections, the Assembly Insurance Committee voted Wednesday to pass Senate Bill 880, by Richard Pan, D-Sacramento, authorizing the pilot project.
