Utah’s Republican Legislature passed three worker-friendly bills before the legislative session ended last week. They will bring new fines for employers who harass or intimidate injured workers, authorize add-on fees for attorneys who represent workers in medical disputes, and increase temporary disability benefits to workers with spouses or children.
The bills await the signature of Republican Gov. Gary Herbert. Three were introduced by Sen. Karen Mayne, D-West Valley City, and passed by wide margins in both chambers.
